The Morningside House “After”

Well Hello Everybody,

I’m back from a nice long blogging break.  It’s been a crazy busy time around here finishing this house we live in and getting it ready to sell.  As a Realtor its my job to tell people how to get their homes ready for market.  Lots of times I see the pain in their eyes when I come at them with my “to-do list.”  But I always say I understand what I’m asking them to do because I have to do it myself.  It’s the honest truth.

I had a two page list–on a legal pad—of things to do, and I didn’t include everything.  It was so long and so awful we just broke down and PSE’d most of it (PSE- Pay Someone Else).

So finally after 3 years here’s the “After” of the Morningside House.

    Patti,
This home is breathtaking. I’m in love with the little wine and/or soft-drink refrigerator in the kitchen. Why do you have two coffee-makers? Best of luck with the sale!

Welcome back! Your home will sell in a flash! It’s beautiful and well appointed!
    Where to next?

As pretty as those pictures are, Patti, they just don’t do the house full justice. What I find so amazing about your transformation is the sense of space you were able to coax out of an older home. With the capacious kitchen and walk-in closets, you have all of the room of a new home with all of the charm of an established home. As you know, I also love how you managed to balance the old and new in furnishing and fixtures.

  6. Wendy says:

I’m so in love with this house! Lovely!

  7. Wow! You’ve done everything right. What’s not to love? That kitchen. All those white-covered chairs. The bath chandelier. The gorgeous patio. That tub. The plantation shutters. The beautifully soft colors. The kitchen sink, the lights, the wall art… I could go on and on.

You need to bring in all your clients and tell them, “This is what I’m talking about.” Why don’t home sellers know that to cash out they have to do some work? Smart of you to farm some chores out.

It’s gorgeous, inside and out. You should sell quickly.

One question: If you are still living there, will it be difficult to keep it picture perfect? You know, hiding the assorted shampoos, laundry, and other ordinary stuff?

Barbara, thanks for your wonderful comments–we’ve worked very hard these past 3 years so I’m glad you think it looks nice. Yes, we are still living here but there’s only the two of us and we have practice in living in a “model home” since we’ve sold two primary residences since 2009 (we lived in one 9 months while we were doing major stuff to this house–we moved in here 2 years ago). I wash towels every day and hide the ones we’ve used once in the washer–we just have to remember to get that shampoo before we step into the shower–it’s not convenient I’ll tell you.
