70.000 euro damage by robbery - two suspects in custody

The wurzburg police took over the investigation after a burglary in mid april in a fire station in gobmannsdorf in the district of wurzburg. During the break-in at the time, the suspects forced their way into the interior of the building via a roll-up door and stole various firefighting equipment worth 20 euros.000 euro.

In addition to this burglary, four attempts to break into atms were made between mid-june and the beginning of july in marktsteft, schweinfurt, unterspiebheim and gaukonigshofen. This was announced by the police. The suspects tried in all cases to open the cash machines. However, the vending machines resisted the break-in attempts, so the burglars did not make any loot. The damage they caused is estimated at about 70.000 euro estimated.

A five-headed investigation commission was set up at the wurzburg criminal investigation department to solve the case. The investigation was conducted in close consultation with the prosecutor’s office. Last thursday, after a search operation, two suspects from the district of wurzburg were arrested. A 29-year-old homeless man and a 24-year-old man from wurzburg are strongly suspected of being responsible for the ATM break-ins and the burglary of the fire department building. During the search, the officers seized, among other things, various stolen goods and narcotics.

On friday, the two suspects had an appointment with a magistrate on the orders of the public prosecutor’s office in wurzburg. The latter obtained a warrant against both of them.
