Two artist friends inspire in coburg

The two artists, who have known each other for many decades, presented the audience with a program of classical, romantic and impressionist works. The A-major sonata by ludwig von beethoven was the prelude to the performance. After the fantasiestucken by robert schumann, works by claude debussy and frederic chopin followed after the intermission.

From the lives of two artists

Jurgen de lemos born in leipzig, jurgen de lemos grew up in coburg, attended the gymnasium albertinum here, was one of the founding members of the collegium musicum and played as a stand-in in the orchestra of the landestheater. Together with the pianist hans-dieter bauer, of the same age, he gave many concerts and made recordings for the bavarian radio. He studied at the munich conservatory and at the juilliard school new york. In 1964 he joined the new york philharmonic as its youngest member under leonard bernstein. Hans-dieter bauer, born in berlin in 1937, has lived in coburg for many decades. He received his artistic training in nurnberg and frankfurt with otto A. Graef, branka musulin and geza anda. As a soloist and chamber musician, he has made a name for himself on the international stage. His artistic work is documented in numerous photographs.
